The 2024 Outdoor Percussion and Color Guard Ensemble held their 2024 Band Camp on July 29 - August 2 and August 5 - 9, from 8AM-5PM at Centreville Middle School. During the two weeks, they worked on the Music and Drill for their 2024 field show, "Pirates of the Caribbean".
On October 12th, the Marching Lions Band and Outdoor Percussion and Color Guard Ensemble had a very busy day as they performed at the QACHS Homecoming Parade, Mass Band Pre-Game, and Half Time performance. During the Homecoming Parade that went from Kennard Elementary School back to the High School, the Marching Lions were joined by alumni members and performed "Roar". During their Pre-Game performance with the Sudlersville and Centreville Middle School Marching Bands, they performed a special arrangement of "This Is My Country" before playing the National Anthem. During their half-time performance, the Outdoor Percussion and Color Guard Ensemble presented their 2024 production of "Pirates of the Caribbean".
On November 11th, the Combined Concert Band along with the Concert Choir, traveled to downtown Centreville and participated in the Centreville Veterans Day Ceremony by providing music before the ceremony began, a combined patriotic selection with the choir, and a selection of music to close the ceremony.
On December 5th, the Combined Concert Band along with the Concert Choir presented their 2024 Sounds of the Holiday Season Winter Concert in the John F. Andrews Performing Arts Center. It was a great evening of various traditional and holiday favorites that was enjoyed by all that were in attendance.
On December 6th, the QACHS Marching Lions Band helped lead the way in the 2024 Centreville Christmas parade. The parade began at the high school before progressing down and through downtown and then returning back to the high school to end.
On December 18th, the Combined Concert Band along with the Concert Choir, Advanced Dance Class, and the cast of Mean Girls Jr. traveled to Sudlersville Middle School to perform and share information about the various performance opportunities that students have as a part of the Performing Arts Department. While the performance was attended by 5th, 6th, and 8th grade students, the program was directed towards the 8th grade students who will be making course selections for their freshman year, shortly after the winter break.
On January 18th, Queen Anne’s had 2 students that traveled to Bennett Middle School in Fruitland, MD to audition for a position in the 2025 Sr. All-Shore Band. It was a very successful day for QACHS as both students made a placement.
On February 27th, QACHS had 15 students who went to Centreville Middle School to participate in the Maryland District V North Solo and Ensemble Festival. This festival provides an opportunity for students to perform in small chamber ensembles and/or as a solo artist for adjudication and/or comments for growth. QA had 2 solo and 6 ensembles, which performed. The results on the day are that for the two solo performances, one received a rating of Superior and the other Excellent. The results of the small ensemble performances are that two ensembles received a rating of Superior, two a rating of Excellent, and two received comments for growth. Of the 15 students who participated, 12 gained this experience for the very first time.
On March 12th, the Combined Concert Band traveled to North Dorchester High School to perform and be assessed at the Maryland District V Band Festival. They gave an excellent performance that earned them just that, an overall rating of “Excellent” made up of three “Excellent” ratings for their stage performance and a rating of “Superior” for their Sight-Reading assessment.
On May 1st, the Combined Concert Band, along with the Combined Concert Choir and Chamber Strings, presented their 2025 Spring Concert in the John F. Andrews Performing Arts Center. It was a great evening of music that was enjoyed by all who were in attendance.
On May 7th, the Jazz Ensemble along with the CMS Jazz Ensemble, presented the 20th Annual Night of Jazz Concert in the CMS Café. Movie and Television show themes seemed to be the concert theme for the night. The full house enjoyed a great evening of Jazz as well as some refreshments through out the evening presentation.
On May 14th, the Marching Lions Percussion and Colo Guard held their 2025 Percussion and Color Guard Clinics. This gave the incoming freshmen a chance to come and check out what it would be like to be a part of these sections and meet the special staff members that help lead these sections.
On May 17th, two students making up a Flute and Clarinet Duet represented QACHS at the Maryland State Solo and Ensemble Festival held at Towson University. This ensemble brought home medals and a rating of "Excellent" for their performance. Congratulations Charlotte and Skylar!
On May 20th - 22nd, the Marching Lions Band held their 2025 Mini-Camps in order to share a peek into what it is like to be a part of the this ensemble. The Color Guard and Percussion each worked on various fundamentals in their sectional rehearsals, while the winds began working on some of the music that will be played this summer at the QAC Fair and then in the fall for Homecoming.
On May 24th, the Marching Lions Band proudly represented QACHS in the Chestertown Tea Party Parade. As the band marched down High Street, there were cheers of "Go QA" from the start to finish. The weather was said to be one of the most comfortable for the parade, compared to that of the most recent years.
