Marching Band

On this page:

Throughout the season, the marching band performs during every home football game, with a halftime show.  This show is what they take to competition, a handful of Saturdays from late September to early November.  During each competition, the band is judged throughout a single performance for such things as marching skills, general visual effect, and music quality, and receives a score out of 100 possible points.  Sometimes, the band must overcome setbacks, like muddy fields, or low-scoring judges - setbacks that occasionally can lower the band's score from the previous weekend.  Even so, the marching band endures it all, and after the marching season, the band disperses, coming back together a week or two before a parade, or for the band trip in the spring.  It can be hard work, but there is scarcely a band member who doesn't enjoy doing it.

2024 Season

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Marching Lions Band will be taking a season off from performing as both a competitive ensemble as well as a field ensemble.   For the duration of the 2024 - 2025 academic year, the Marching Lions will be appearing as a parade ensemble only.

So, who are you seeing performing at halftime?  Well, this summer we organized a brand new marching ensemble that is made entirely up of Percussion and Color Guard members.  This new ensemble is known as the Queen Anne's County High School Outdoor Percussion and Color Guard Ensemble.   They will be proudly performing the music from "Pirates of the Caribbean" at halftime at each of the home football games this season.
